I chose to go with a gingham on gingham with hints of gold accents and black. I used an off black lining and a black piping for the edges. The gold buttons added the final accent piece. While using two different gingham prints a medium and small size, I was able to create a look all my own. In my mind I thought I was on a cruise boat somewhere and with the wind blowing this sleeveless trench could keep me warm but looking fashionably chic at the same time on a cool night.
Sewing planner
I used my sewing planner to keep me organized and to get a quick snapshot of what my vision would look like. The pattern was very easy to sew. With me adding the added details of the piping and bias tape it took a little longer trying to make sure that everything lined up.
details
The larger gingham is used for the flap, tie, pocket flap and loops. The piping outlines the outer flap, pockets and loops. I use the gold bias tape as a final accent piece. The planner helped me to see it all and make changes where necessary.
styling
I paired my jacket with an all white look and gold accents with the turban, aviator glasses and shoes. This is a great shopping look. I think I created a timeless piece that looks expensive. I will probably change out the buttons as I am looking for the anchor style ones.
